RACISM FREE ONTARIO PARTNER+VOLUNTEER CALL-OUT:
The Racism Free Ontario Initiative is a 100 day anti-racism campaign, across Ontario. During the campaign, community organizations, groups, individuals and media from across the province will be working together to create awareness about the impact of racism and about potential solutions to addressing various aspects of systemic racism.
CASSA is encouraging you to hold an event as a way to mark March 21st, the International Day for Elimination of Racial Discrimination in Ontario.
Please email us or call us if you or your organization wishes to join the campaign. It is very simple. You can be part of the campaign with offering to host an activity (i.e. teach-in, movie night, seminar, workshop, town hall, booth, poster, forum or anything else you consider appropriate for your organization). Last year we held 8 activities through partners, and this year, we hope to have at least twenty activities across the province through partners. We hope you can join and help us advance anti-racism work in Ontario.
The Council of Agencies Serving South Asians (CASSA) is currently recruiting a team of volunteers to help out with the Racism Free Ontario campaign, please contact us if you wish to be involved in an individual capacity as well. Please email us at racismfreeontario@cassa.on.ca if you are interested in working with CASSA on this project.

Oh My Gay: Ontario PC Party Distributes Misleading Homophobic Flyer
Ontario PC Party Distributes Misleading Homophobic Flyer
The Ontario Progressive Conservative Party has put for a flyer that can only be discribed as homophobic and misrepresentative just days before the provincial election. Please share the truth with as many people as possible.

Want to know the truth behind this Flyer rather than the lies/misrepresentation the Progressive Conservatives have put forth?… See below.
1) The quote at the top of the attack ad is from a September 23, 2011 CTV article entitled “McGuinty accused of keeping parents in dark on sex-ed” (see link below). The (non-verbatim) quote in the ad in unattributed to its speaker - Tim Hudak.

2) The attack ad says that on page 19, there is a section on “Cross-dressing for six year-olds”. Page 19 in the document is actually a list of “Significant International LGBTQ Individuals” (see link at end of post for full “Challenging Homophobia and Heterosexism” document)
3) The attack is misleading and disingenuous when it refers to the “kissing booth” on page 143. The flyer misleads you into a) thinking this is for children, and b) thinking this is an actual “kissing booth”. The program is actually for highschool students, and the “kisses” referred to in the document are stamps and chocolate kisses.
4) The attack ad is once again misleading and disingenuous, this time when it references the “gender-bending” on page 44. The line the attack ad quotes is from a section entitled “Pink Versus Blue” – Challenging Gender Stereotypes” and discusses typical gender defined roles and breaking gender barriers. The very next line of the document give examples of “gender-bending” as being a female hockey player or a male teacher who likes to cook or sew.
For Hudak to defend this is deplorable.
