Mayor Rob Ford’s weight-loss campaign ended with a whimper Monday.
Ford wrapped up his Cut the Waist challenge, but as he stepped off the scale for his final weigh-in he twisted his ankle.
The mayor weighed in at 313 pounds‚ down 17 pounds from his 330-pound starting weight back in January. Ford had started out with the goal of losing 50 pounds but announced last month he was off his diet and would likely miss his target weight.
“I just want to thank everyone for their support, it’s been good,” he told reporters after walking off his ankle injury.
“I could have done better … anyways we’ll keep working hard and get (the weight) down.”
Ford said his ankle “hurt pretty bad.”
“I twisted it good,” he said.
Councillor Doug Ford tipped the scale at 240 pounds — down 35 pounds from when he started the weight-loss campaign in January. He was also trying to lose 50 pounds.
“We aren’t going to stop, we’re going to keep going,” Ford said.
“In my opinion I lost 35 pounds and I didn’t really try. I went out for a great buffet dinner last night, I had breakfast this morning but I’m working out every day and I couldn’t have done it without Rob.”
